Dental Bridges in Wibsey

As the saying goes, ‘a chain is only as strong as its weakest link,’ your smile is no exception.

One missing tooth can have an enormous effect on your overall smile, confidence, and dental health. Are you missing one or two teeth? Has your dentist recommended a tooth extraction, leaving you wondering how to replace it?

Dental bridges in Wibsey are a reliable and effective way to restore and maintain a healthy smile.

What are dental bridges?

Dental bridges literally ‘bridge’ the gap between missing teeth or teeth. It is a custom-made, conjoined row of three or more dental crowns, with the crowns replacing missing spaces known as ‘politics’ and the supporting dental crowns placed on healthy natural teeth known as retainers.

They ensure that you can chew, talk, and smile confidently by restoring the beauty and functionality of your smile.

The types of dental bridges

There are many different types of dental bridges. Dental bridges in Wibsey offer an array of options to suit your unique needs. Here are the different dental bridge types:

The benefits of dental bridges

A dental bridge provides more than just a complete smile.

Restores function

Dental bridges facilitate eating and speaking, allowing you to enjoy a broader variety of foods.

When a tooth is missing, the adjacent teeth may fill the gap. This can disrupt normal biting and jaw movements. A dental bridge fills any gaps in the mouth, keeping the teeth in proper alignment.

A full, natural-looking smile can significantly boost your self-esteem.

Dental bridges improve oral health by distributing bite forces evenly across the jaws, reducing strain on the surrounding teeth and joints.

  • Traditional Bridges: These are the most popular types of dental bridges. Crowns are fitted onto adjacent natural teeth to support a pontic or dummy tooth/teeth.
  • Cantilever Bridges: If there is only one adjacent tooth to support the bridge, a cantilever bridge will effectively fill the gap. It only has one pontic anchored to a dental crown at one end. They are commonly used as dental bridges on front teeth.
  • Maryland Bonded Bridges: Maryland bridges are a more conservative alternative to dental crowns because they use a framework bonded to the back of adjacent supporting teeth. These are ideal dental bridges for front teeth.
  • Implant-Supported Bridges: These do not use natural teeth, but rather rely on two or more dental implants to replace missing ones.

Who can get a dental bridge?

Dental bridges are appropriate for the following situations:

  • Have one or more missing teeth, flanked by healthy teeth or implants.
  • You want a long-term solution that allows you to chew and speak normally again.
  • If you want a lower-cost alternative to dental implants for replacing multiple teeth.

Frequently asked questions

The dental bridge procedure typically takes two to three appointments. This includes initial consultations and dental appointments for tooth preparation, moulding, and temporary bridge placement. When the permanent bridge is finished in the dental lab, it will be cemented in place at a follow-up visit.

The cost of a dental bridge varies greatly depending on the type of bridge, the materials used, and the gravity of the situation. Dental insurance may cover all or some of the costs, and we also provide flexible payment plans for dental bridges.

If your dental bridge is loose, please contact Taylored Dental Care as soon as possible. In the meantime, do not touch or try to adjust the bridge yourself. Steer clear of chewing on that side of your mouth. If a loose bridge is not repaired right away, it can lead to additional complications.

The dental bridge process

We understand how nervous you might be about dental visits.

It can be intimidating, especially when you hear drills and impressions while sitting patiently in the chair. Here’s how we at Taylored Dental Care make the procedure easy for you:

  • Open communication: We would like to avoid surprises during the procedure. We will educate you with models and videos and walk you through each step of the process.
  • Gentle techniques: We only use modern tools and techniques to ensure a precise, comfortable, and painless experience.  We will numb the tooth and the adjacent teeth during the dental bridge procedure, making it a relatively pain-free process.
  • Flexible options: If you are extremely anxious, we can offer you additional relaxation techniques, such as sedation.

Custom-designed dental bridges in Wibsey could be the first step to a healthy smileCall to book your appointment.

Where visits to the dentist are concerned I am extremely nervous. In the past this has meant I have avoided any kind of dental care which obviously isn’t good. Having seen adverts for Taylored Dental Care in Wibsey Bradford, and the promise of treating patients sympathetically, I made an appointment. I’ve been going now for a number of years and can say that I’ve had the best experience. All the staff are incredibly caring, trustworthy and listen to and manage my anxieties and concerns. Unbelievably to me, I’m in a position now where I don’t have any worries or anxiety before my appointments. My dentist is the lovely Rosina and I have also had care from Charlotte Helliwell. Both are great and all the staff (reception, assistants) are fantastic. I’m posting this in the hope that it will help someone who has the same anxiety for the dentist that I used to have. If you do, I strongly recommend that you use Taylored Dental Care.
